SCIENCE AND RELIGION ESSAYS

While this site is generally about the "truths" of real science, one sad truth is that science is often very improperly referenced to supposedly eliminate the basis of religious beliefs.  That is simply the opposite from the fact that science findings in general support a belief that simple materialism is not capable of answering many basic questions even about physical reality and none of the fundamental questions such as the origin of laws of physics or even the origin of life just to mention two important examples.

It is important for people of faith to understand where the truths of science come down on such important questions, and this, we believe, alone justifies this section of essays in this site.  There is also the need to counter militant atheists such as Richard Dawkins who openly attacks Christianity alluding to supposed science (which is in fact no more than atheistic unwarranted extreme extrapolations of hard science fact.

The truth is that science doe not provide anything like a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the deep questions of reality.  In the book "Pi In The Sky; Counting, Thinking, and Being" by J. Barrow, on page 19, referring to a mathematical proof by K. Godel, Mr. Barrow says; "---there must always be gaps in our knowledge of the physical world.  In the vein it has been suggested that if we were to define a religion to be a system of thought which contains unprovable statements, so it contains an element of faith, then Godel has taught us that not only is mathematics a religion but it is the only religion able to prove itself to be one."  (Our highlights.)   We would add that science could in like manner also prove it self to be a religion.

In seeking the truth about science and religion, we believe it is important to understand that the truths of science, as they relate to religion, are not supportive of atheism and many scientists believe in God as demonstrated in the links below and throughout this site.
