THE AGE OF THE EARTH/UNIVERSE CONTROVERSY FROM A SCIENCE      VIEWPOINT;

Many (not all) Christians are questioning the age of the earth and universe as a way of attacking Darwinian macroevolution.   Our belief is that whatever the scientific merits of the arguments for the age of the universe, the issue is not determinate, in our views, of the general truths of science which point in any case to the probable existence of God.  The reason this is true is that even a very old universe and earth do not allow enough time for the Darwinian mechanism to explain life and there are many other extreme improbabilities which virtually rule out any undirected natural explanation for the universe and life.

At the very least, however, there are serious questions about the scientific age measuring techniques, and/or some very strange geology, when over a billion ,that is right; billion, not a million, but if the old age science were correct, a billion years of supposed history is missing as in the grand canyon great unconformity. 

Certainly also science cannot address the literacy of all Biblical interpretations.  Arguing against science interpretations directly is, therefore, not in our opinion required in terms of Biblical beliefs.

We have, in any case, not studied the subject in detail and would suggest studying the websites listed below which raise many questions about the age of the earth and if even a single one of their points is correct, would eliminate the possibility that the earth is very old;
